Luxury Watch Spotlight: Hublot

New York Loan Company works regularly with watches from Rolex, Patek Philippe, Audemars Piguet and of course, Hublot. The top luxury collateral lender in Manhattan, our pawnshop specializes in collateral based loans on fine timepieces and wristwatches of all kinds.

Hublot, the French word for porthole, was created in 1980 by Italian watchmaker Carlo Crocco. The new company made history quickly by being the first watchmaker to use a natural rubber strap instead of leather. The watch became a great commercial success for its classic yet sporty design, and Hublot made well over 2 million in its first year of business.

The Big Bang, Classic Fusion and King Power are incredibly sought-after models from Hublot and regularly seen at New York Loan Company – either for purchase or to be used as collateral for a pawn loan. The luxury watchmaker is much younger than other timepiece companies around the world, but is still competitive in terms of coveted high-end watches.

Now Hublot is almost as well known for its celebrity ambassadors: Kobe Bryant, Usain Bolt & Jet Li) and many sponsorships including Ferarri, the Forumla 1 World Championship, the FIFA World Cup, and the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships.

Please call New York Loan at (212) 997-5626 to inquire about either purchasing, buying, or loaning on a Hublot watch.

Famous Watches – Celebrity Owned

Luxury watch brands have been endorsed by actors, athletes, and prominent figures for decades. Unlike the standard celebrity and brand partnership, high-end watch manufacturers refer to their endorsers as “brand ambassadors”.

Luxury watches, and celebrity endorsed watches, are consistently used as collateral for a pawn loan with New York Loan Company, Manhattan’s only high-end pawnshop. Some companies like Tag Heuer, collect many various famous figures, including Leonardo DiCaprio, Tiger Woods, and Uma Thurman. Most luxury watch companies like to stick with one or two hand selected endorsers. Jon Hamm for Jaeger LeCoultre, and David Duchovny for Baume & Mercier for instance.

A few companies go above and beyond, creating limited edition watches for a celebrity, their charitable foundation, or a popular character. Shaquille O’Neal has a limited edition from Audemars Piguet, which retails for over $30,000. Kobe Bryant has a limited edition Hublot named after him, where proceeds benefit his family’s charitable foundation.

The iconic James Bond movies have had many different watches featured, including Rolex and Breitling, but in 1997 James Bond moved on to Omega watches and has never looked back. Now Omega produces limited edition watches based on each movie, the most recent model retailing for $7,500. New York Loan Company has had many variations of the Bond watch in their ever-changing showcase.

The Rolex Daytona Paul Newman is by far the most coveted celebrity braded watch, and one of the favorite watches of those at New York Loan. The actor was a huge fan of Rolex and wore his Daytona in the 1969 movie Winning. From there the relationship grew and the Paul Newman Daytona became a watch of legends. At a recent Christie’s auction a rare model, the “RCO” Paul Newman, sold for $1,089,186.
